The Trump administration on Thursday said it was investigating whether the Food and Drug Administration improperly promoted its anti-impotence drug Viagra in the U. S. as a treatment for the condition.
The administration said it had asked for an investigation into the agency's use of Viagra as a treatment for a new medical condition that affects millions of people around the world. The FDA had also asked for an investigation into whether the FDA misled consumers when it approved the drug for the treatment of that condition.
The agency said it was also investigating whether it was misleading doctors to prescribe Viagra for their patients, especially when Viagra is the drug of choice for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

The agency also said it was investigating whether the FDA violated federal and state law when it approved Viagra as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.

"We've seen many men who took Viagra to treat their erectile dysfunction," he said. "If Viagra is effective for some patients, then it might be an option for some of them.
