The data from these trials show that sildenafil has a modest ability to reduce the frequency and severity of HIV infection in men with ED, which may be a result of reduced effectiveness of the treatment. The data from these trials also show that sildenafil has a modest ability to decrease the risk of developing syphilis in men, which may be a result of reduced efficacy of the treatment. However, this release summarizes the data from the largest clinical trials of sildenafil in men, the Vourced (Pfizer) Study, conducted by Pfizer, and the results of a large, multi-centre, randomised, placebo-controlled trial.
